The FCMA (Fujairah Culture and Media Authority) was set up to develop and expand cultural and media activities in the Emirate of Fujairah (United Arab Emirates). The authority aims to strengthen Fujairah’s cultural presence internationally and in the Arab world. It strongly believes culture is the foundation of society and is committed to fostering and encouraging cultural and media activities in Fujairah in all their forms: science, research and innovation, thus projecting a positive image of the emirate while also reflecting its philosophy and worldview. The development of relations and links with organizations and cultural institutions elsewhere helps to develop a rich and diverse exchange of experiences. As part of its determination to provide an environment conducive to cultural creativity, the FCMA is implementing multiple strategies among which strengthening links (on the local, Arab and international levels) between institutions and authorities in the field of culture and media, the organization of events (exhibitions, conferences, festivals), or through support for cultural projects and programs abroad. It encourages innovation and excellence in all fields of culture and art. As part of its commitment to encourage cultural events, the FCMA has chosen to focus on photojournalism through the FIPCOM competition.
